Accessibility Statement
Commonwell is committed to making our software usable by everyone, including
people with disabilities. We target the **Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
(WCAG) 2.1, Level AA** and continuously test and improve the product. These
efforts support customers' accessibility obligations, but this statement is not
a third-party conformance certification or a guarantee of compliance with the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or any state accessibility law.
Scope
This statement covers the Commonwell applications:
- the administrator app (board and management tools),
- the resident portal, and
- the vendor/contractor portal.
The public community websites that Commonwell renders also ship a built-in
accessibility toolbar (text resizing, high contrast, link highlighting, a
dyslexia-friendly font, reduced motion, and a large cursor) and their own
accessibility statement.
Accessibility measures and targets
- Keyboard: we design interactive controls to be reachable and operable with
the keyboard, with visible focus indicators and "Skip to main content" links.
- Structure: pages use a single main landmark, labeled navigation, and
meaningful headings so screen readers can navigate efficiently.
- Dialogs: our dialog pattern traps focus, announces itself as a dialog, and
restores focus on close.
- Color & contrast: text and interactive colors are checked for WCAG AA
contrast across our light and dark themes.
- Motion: animations respect the operating-system "reduce motion" setting.
- Automated testing: accessibility checks (axe-core) run in our automated
end-to-end test suite against the admin and resident apps, so regressions are
caught before release.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. Some complex surfaces (such as the drag-and-
drop page editor) continue to be improved, and we welcome feedback. A keyboard
alternative is provided wherever a pointer-only interaction exists.
Feedback
If you encounter a barrier or need content in a different format, contact your
community's board or administrator, or email us at support@commonwell.app.
We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe and will work with you to
provide the information or functionality you need.
